Strawberry-Rhubarb Jam

After buying a jar of strawberry-rhubarb jam at Pikes Market in Seattle, WA, I knew I needed to try to make my own.  We have two large rhubarb plants in the back yard.  I usually juice them for syrup but this year I'm trying jam.  This is incredible.  I love that it has more rhubarb than other jams.  I put mine in containers in the freezer after I cooked it down.  Next time I will quadruple the batch.  I'm so sad I don't have more rhubarb this year, I've already juiced the rest of it.

What is the best BBQ Sauce?

Patrick made the best tangy BBQ sauce over the weekend.  BBQ sauce is so diverse, and it all depends on what flavors you like.  I have a go-to sauce I've used for years but his was a really good tangy sauce.  So here are both recipes.  Patrick found this one on About.com.

St. Louis BBQ Sauce

Put in small saucepan
2 cups ketchup
1/2 cup water
1/3 cup apple cider vinegar
1/3 cup brown sugar
2 TB mustard
1 TB onion powder
1 TB garlic powder
1/2 tsp. cayenne
Heat to boil, then simmer for 30-40 minutes.  Or until desired thickness.

My BBQ Sauce

Put in a small saucepan
1/2 cup brown sugar
1 TB mustard
3/4 cup catsup
1 TB worcestershire sauce
1/4 cup water
salt and pepper to taste
Bring to a boil and simmer 20-30 minutes.  Or until thickened.

I've also marinated meat in this.   Also, baked or put meat in the crock pot with this.  I also tend to use what I have on hand.  Left over salsa or spaghetti sauce tastes great as a catsup substitute.
